Edgewood School Board says NO to Border Wall

"Walls are built to imprison, create obstacles to movement of people, (and) keep people out. They are built in the mind, in the heart, and, over time with suspicion, fear, racism (and) classism."

SWU applauds the efforts of the Edgewood Independent School District in west San Antonio to denounce the proposed border wall.

I think it interesting that none of the people that are against the southern barrier are advising their families and neighbors to leave their homes unlocked or to dispose of their security systems on their cars. Thirty years ago my family readily and happily employed illegal Mexican National labor, as did many others when we lived in Bandera and our fences got washed away in a huge flood. But, whether any of the Ivory Tower crowd like to admit it or not, it is now a far different world. In those days, in Bandera, I left my doors unlocked and the keys in my cars and trucks, and a rifle in my gun rack.
